Why more people are turning to custom 3D printed parts to fix what manufacturers have forgotten.
In a world where products seem to have shorter lifespans every year, it’s all too common to hear:
“Sorry, we don’t make that part anymore.”
Whether it’s a baby cot, a power tool, a kitchen appliance or even a piece of office furniture — if a part breaks and the manufacturer no longer supports it, you’re often told your only option is to replace the whole thing. At The Parts Generator, we think that’s wasteful, expensive, and unnecessary.
🔧 Turning Problems Into Parts
We specialise in recreating discontinued or impossible-to-find components through precision 3D modelling and printing.
Recently, a customer came to us with a Shanti cot — a solid piece of nursery furniture that was still in great shape… except for one problem. The top rail part, which connects the drop-side catches, had broken. With the original manufacturer out of business and no spares available, they faced having to throw out the entire cot.
Instead, they turned to us.
We reverse-engineered the broken part, recreated a custom top rail, and designed new left and right drop catches to match — all carefully measured and tested for a secure, reliable fit. The result? One very happy customer, and one more cot saved from landfill.
♻️ Why 3D Printing Makes Sense
Recreating parts like this used to be expensive and time-consuming — but not anymore. With modern 3D printing, we can quickly design, test and produce one-off components that are:
- âś… Tailored to your exact needs
- âś… Strong, functional, and accurate
- âś… Often cheaper than buying new
- âś… Environmentally responsible
Our customers aren’t just repairing — they’re reviving items with years of life left in them.
📸 Real Results, Real Value
From cot parts and car clips to cooker knobs and tool handles, we’ve recreated all sorts of things. Each job is different, but the goal is the same: make it work again.
If you’ve got something that’s broken and no longer supported, don’t bin it — send us a photo and some measurements, and we’ll see if we can bring it back to life.
